In 1956, at the age of 15, David attended a Missions Conference that began a life-long passion for missions. He was convinced he was being called to the missionary literature ministry and surrendered completely to be who the Lord wanted him to be and to go where the Lord wanted him to go. This led him to Moody Bible Institute and four years of learning from two pioneers of missionary literature, Peter Gunther and Dr. Kenneth Taylor at Moody Press.

During this time at Moody he met and married Catherine. The Lord led David and Catherine to the Latin America Mission for two years, managing their bookstores in Costa Rica and Panamá. After reluctantly returning to the US, David rejoined Moody as a sales representative before joining Tyndale House to manage a distribution center. He says “looking back I now see how in God’s wisdom I was being prepared for what was to come”.

In 1974 David was offered an opportunity by Dr. Taylor to open and manage a new Spanish language distribution center in Miami, FL. Thrilled to get back into the Spanish world, he accepted the challenge and opened Unilit Miami, later renamed Spanish House.

The ministry grew quickly and the Lord generously blessed their distribution of Bibles, books and supplies to Latin America.

In 1987 Tyndale offered David and Catherine the opportunity to purchase Spanish House. Once again stepping out in faith they accepted the challenge and again the Lord generously blessed the ministry eventually providing for the shift to Publishing.

David and Catherine’s passion for missions shaped the vision for the future and direction of the company. From the very start they considered Spanish House to be God’s company and giving to world missions was built into the budget and continues to be the priority to this day. As a business for ministry, Spanish House Ministries has given more than $5,000,000 to missions around the world. It is estimated that David’s commitment to the Spanish speaking world through the distribution and publishing of Evangelical books and Bibles has reached more than 100,000,000 million people.
